In this country, we honor our great presidents (back when we had them) with promotions for beds. I suppose a good president, like a good mattress, provides a good night’s sleep. (I certainly won’t be sleeping well for the next four years.)
But wouldn’t we better honor our Founding Fathers if we cancelled Presidents Day and made Election Day a national holiday instead? Why not give Americans the day off to actually practice democracy?
Now I hear what you’re saying: if we abolish President’s Day, when could mattress retailers hold their sales? Well, if you think about it, Valentine’s Day seems like an even better fit…
With that thought, here’s wishing you all a happy mattress sale. If you manage to sleep well despite all that’s happening in the current White House, please share your tips.
