Thanks for the article! So fun that people are understanding that marketing is all around us! I was just lucky 27 years ago to realize that I needed help doing a menu. All my college textbooks had the history of menus but nothing about how menus worked! I studied all the other industries on how a person reads a newspaper or magazine and took all the information to help restaurants! Tomorrow, (Thursday, Sept 24) over 4.2 Million people will sit in a chair (or read a menu board) in a restaurant and order off menus that I help layout and design in the past few years!
And don't worry...Crabcakes are not the star in every restaurant! It all depends on the pricing, costs and sales of the items! Go where you want and enjoy what sounds good! and give a big hug to the restaurant owner! They are working to fix you some good food and drink!

There is definitely a science to menu pricing and description. A great description of a dish can assign or support the dollar value of the dish in the diners mind. But if the restaurant can't deliver on taste....
